EXCAVATOR ATTACHMENTS

Overview

We offer a wide range of excavator attachments, to make your excavator far more than just a digging machine. A small sample of these can be seen on our excavator attachments movie below. Our sales team will provide advice on chosing the right attachment for your machine and your job.
  Excavator attachments

Heavy duty ripper teeth

Heavy Duty Ripper Teeth made in the UK

Heavy duty ripper teeth excavator attachment

An essential piece of kit for all minis and 360os, the ripper teeth makes light work of hard or rocky ground. Ripping ground prior to digging will greatly reduce wear and stress on both bucket and machine, and speed up cycle times. Fitted with replaceable CAT type tip.

Clay Spades

Single ram, hydraulically actuated tilt ditchers allow up to 40o of tilt in each direction, and are ideal for finish grading on applications such as groundworks, golf courses and landscaping. Available for any machine from 2 to 30 tonnes.

LAND CLEARANCE RAKES

Land Clearance Rakes made in the UK

Land Clearance Rakes have many applications and are suitable for use on all sizes of micro, mini and 360o excavator from 0.5 to 70 tonnes operating weight. For most jobs, the overall width and height of the rake is similar to that of the machine's largest digging bucket.

Gaps between the tines will depend on the sort of work you envisage. For jobs such as moving tree roots, rocks and other large debris, a large gap- and consequently fewer, thicker tines - is best. For sorting stone from soil, you need the gaps set to a width that retains the size of debris you wish to remove. If however, you work in areas where the soil is particularly heavy and sticky, you will need a reasonable gap to prevent clogging of the tines. We can advise on these criteria. Check our our land clearance rakes technical resource page for more info or contact us

Grapples

Grapples made in the UK

Grapples, or grabs, are available for all excavators and are a durable, cost effective solution for long term materials handling requirements. All models feature HARDOX 400 material (390 to 430 Brinell hardness) for the main plates, giving excellent strength and wear resistance.

Digger grapples require no additional hydraulic rams or services, and are simply operated by the bucket ram, which actuates the moving half (2 tined section) whilst the static (3 tined) half, is held by a con-rod, attached to a three position bracket, which is welded to the dipper arm. All necessary pins, brackets and con-rods are included. There are two main types:

Boxed Tine Grapple
Boxed Tine:

The ultimate grapple. Normally supplied as ‘Rock spec.’ this is our strongest type of grapple, and is capable of withstanding extremely arduous applications such as; primary demolition, and rock handling in quarries or for sea defence projects. The tines are fabricated - in
HARDOX 400 - as box sections, just like an excavator boom or dipper arm, to give immense rigidity, without excessive weight.

All of these grapples feature hardened top hat bushes, which interlink the two grapple halves (so the grapple stays intact when removed from the excavator) to also allow for easy replacement of pivot wear. For maximum grip and opening capacity, the grapple pivots about the dipper end on a special bucket pin (included), whilst the rear bucket link pin remains standard.

Units made specifically for rock handling will carry extra reinforcing on the inner faces of the two grapples halves.

Solid Tine Grapple for lighter duties
Solid Tine:

Less expensive than the boxed tine grapple, and not as heavily constructed, the solid tine grapple is ideal for general, lighter duties; secondary demolition handling general debris, such as light girders or timbers, waste transfer handling and sorting, scrap.

The tines are profile cut from solid HARDOX 400 material, and the two halves of the grapple are connected by twin hinge pins (supplied). The grapple attaches to the machine using the standard machine buckets pins (not supplied), and for this reason, it is generally possible to use this type of grapple with our SPRINGLOCK or MULTILOCK quick hitches.Grapple

For light, general work, you might get away without the expense of a grapple and use our Grip Talon attachment, but for heavy, continuous use, in severe applications, accept no substitutes and specify a grapple.

The information shown above details out the general specifications of our grapples - in particular, the two main types - but our sales team will be pleased to advise on the best attachment for your excavator.

Grip Talons

Grip talons made in the UK

A versatile attachment, with many uses, the Grip Talon is indispensable for:
• Demolition
• Forestry
• Landscaping
• Recycling
• Skip Hire
• Waste Transfer

With models available for all mini and 360o excavators, the Grip Talon is a competitively priced, lighter duty alternative to a solid tine grapple. Customers tell us they find this attachment invaluable for all types of work, and the comment “I don’t know how we coped without it!” is common.

  Benefits include:
Allows awkward sized objects to be handled, sorted and placed with ease.
Does not impede the normal digging function of the excavator.
Can be used with all standard digging buckets, riddle buckets and land clearance rakes
Heavy objects can be carefully loaded into dump trucks or skips with minimal damage.
Can be removed or folded back against dipper if necessary.

Available for all excavators from 0.5 T micros to 45 T machines - one of the most underrated attachments of all.

For heavy duty applications, see our range of Grapples

Mechanical Pulverisors

Mechanical Pulverisors - demolition and recyclingIdeal in all general demolition and recycling applications, for processing concrete and stone, the mechanical pulverisor is a simple, durable attachment.

What machines can mechanical pulverisor be fitted to?
Although potentially feesable on excavators from 6 T upwards, we tend to find that machines much less than 10 tonnes are far more productive when fitted with our BAV, hydraulic crusher. Apart from this proviso, any excavator up to 65 T will operate these attachments with ease.
Pulverisor main plates

Quality materials are essential for long term durability.

All main plates on our mechanical pulverisors are manufactured from HARDOX 400 plate (note red painted plates, with certification marks) which is a universally recognised source.

For compact machines, from 1.2 to 16 tonnes, see the BAV Alligator Crushers

Augers & Trenchers

Auger DriveOur enormous range of Augers and Drive Units cover 360o excavators from 0.75 tonne 'micros' up to 35 tonne machines and skid steer loaders, and all but the very smallest - the DDO (for up to 1.5T) - feature integral, high torque, planetary reduction gearboxes.

This torque, allied to the constant spiral design of the augers, gives outstanding digging power, even in hard ground conditions. With optional tungsten tipped teeth even fracturable rock and sandstone can be penetrated.

Drive units can be fitted with various brackets, to allow interchange between different machines, provided they are within the correct weight range for the unit.

Depending on your machine - and our sales team will be happy to advise on this - you can have augers from 100 mm on smaller machines to 1200 mm diameter on 35 tonners, and can bore as deep as 10 metres using extensions on the largest.

Most modern machines will be equipped with the two-way, auxiliary hydraulic circuits, neccessary to drive an auger or trencher.

The Chain Trencher attachments can be fitted to any mini excavator from 2 to 8 T, and also skid steer loaders. Depending on your machine, and the model of trencher (we currently offer three sizes), chains can be set up with cut widths from 80 to 300 mm, and boom\chain digging depths from 450 to 1200 mm.
